URFA reaffiliates with the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour

URFA members to gain access to education, training, resources and being part of the broader labour movement in the province

REGINA, Sask. — The Executive Committee of the University of Regina Faculty Association (URFA) is pleased to announce that URFA has recently reaffiliated with the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL).

Through this reaffiliation, URFA officially rejoins a non-partisan organization that represents more than 100,000 unionized members in every sector throughout Saskatchewan. URFA’s purpose of promoting solidarity with the labour movement aligns well with that of the SFL, which strives to improve working conditions for social and economic justice for all.

By rejoining the SFL, URFA members will gain access to education and training programs offered by the organization; have a representative on SFL’s Executive Council, and have access to SFL and affiliated-organization resources for support should job action or lock out occur. Together with other affiliates and members of the SFL, URFA is pleased to be part of the collective voice of workers in the province.

For the past 40-plus years, the University of Regina Faculty Association has stood in solidarity with unionized workers at home and across the country. By reaffiliating with the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour, we demonstrate our commitment to promote solidarity with the labour movement and to uphold the principles of equality of opportunity and human rights.”

URFA President Britt Hall

We are delighted to have the University of Regina Faculty Association reaffiliate with the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour and join more than 500 affiliated locals across the province. By working together, our affiliated locals and the members we represent, have substantial power to advocate for the improvement of workers’ rights and livelihoods.”
