U of R APT Members Vote Yes on New Contract
The University of Regina Faculty Association and the University of Regina APT Bargaining Committee are pleased to announce that the members of the U of R APT bargaining unit have voted 93.7% in favour of a five-year collective agreement with the University of Regina.
We await notification from the University’s Board of Governors on their approval of the deal. If approved, the new agreement will go into effect January 1, 2023.
With a strong mandate from the bargaining unit, the bargaining team was able to make much-needed gains to help our members keep up with the rising costs of living, and to ensure fair compensation for the work U of R APT perform.
They achieved significant gains in compensation of 10.5% over five years with a $2500 lump sum payment for 2021, a mechanism to ensure that URFA has a seat at the table on remote work policy, and held on to the retirement bonus until 2038.
They also made gains in the area of increased benefits for mental health, and improved language around coaching and discipline.
The U of R APT Bargaining team would like to thank members for your engagement and solidarity throughout this process — and would also like to thank the Executive Committee, APT Advocacy Committee, the Member Mobilization Committee, Equity Committee, and Pension & Benefits Committee for their support and encouragement along the way. And finally, thank you to the employer for a fair and cordial bargaining process.
More details of the new collective agreement will be available soon on the URFA website.
