Ratified — New collective agreement for U of R Academic members!
Thank you to everyone who voted in the University of Regina — Academic bargaining unit ratification vote!
It is our pleasure to announce that the new collective agreement has been ratified by both parties and will come into force immediately.
The new collective agreement includes:
- Expansion of the scope of academic freedom
- 13% pay increase over 6 years — with retro pay for eligible members (Appendix A)
- One-time lump sum payments of:
- $2,000, which is not applied to base salaries or salary scales, to be paid to all full-time staff members
- $1,500 to be paid to sessionals who have worked a minimum of 1,040 hours in one of the following academic years: 2021 – 2022, 2022 – 2023, or 2023 – 2024
- $700 increase (from $300 to $1,000) for paramedical services for licensed psychologists or social workers, which will take effect on the first of the month following ratification
- $200 increase (from $1000 to $1200) for the Flexible Spending Benefit
- New language on sessional conversion
- And more
We have some housekeeping to complete with the new documents, however once that is done and they are signed, we will distribute copies of the new collective agreement to members, and a digital copy will be available publicly on our website.
URFA’s Executive Committee wants to extend our sincere thanks to the members of the U of R Academic bargaining team: Andrew Stevens, Melanie Goodwin, Andi Céline Martin, Sylvain Rheault, and Landon Schaffer.
This agreement would not have been possible without their hard work and commitment to creating a stronger workplace.
If you have any questions about language, please email urfa@uregina.ca. Please direct any questions about retro pay or timelines to your manager or the HR department, as they are in charge of implementing the changes.
