Student Bursaries
Each year the University of Regina Faculty Association awards three bursaries to students — the Dr. Peter Hemingway Bursary, the Faye Rafter Bursary, the Dr. Sarah Shorten Memorial Bursary.

University of Regina Faculty Association Dr. Peter Hemingway Bursary
This bursary is named to recognize the exemplary contributions of the late Dr. Peter Hemingway to the creation and effective functioning of the University of Regina Faculty Association.
The bursary will be awarded annually to an undergraduate who has completed at least 30 credit hours of course work in any faculty at the University of Regina. The recipient must also be registered in a minimum of 12 credit hours in the fall semester. The award is valued at $1,500, and will be made by the Scholarship Committee on the basis of financial need as well as academic achievement.
The 2023 recipient of this award was Jenna Mathies.

University of Regina Faculty Association Faye Rafter Bursary
This bursary was established by the University of Regina Faculty Association to recognize the contributions of Faye Rafter for her work as executive director of the Association during a time of growth and change in the organization.
The bursary is awarded annually to a single parent on the basis of financial need as well as academic achievement. The student must have completed at least 30 hours of class work in any faculty at the University of Regina, have a minimum weighted percentage average of 75 per cent and be registered in at least 12 credit hours in the fall semester. Preference will be given to a student who demonstrates financial need as cited on the application form. This award is valued at $1,500.

University of Regina Faculty Association Dr. Sarah Shorten Memorial Bursary
This bursary was established by the University of Regina Faculty Association to support the participation of women in the profession of engineering and in scientific fields. It is named to commemorate the contribution of Dr. Sarah Shorten to the status of academic women in Canada and to her legacy of leadership in the Canadian Association of University Teachers. In a small way, it honours the fourteen women who were tragically murdered on December 6, 1989 at École Polytechnique in Montréal.
The bursary is awarded to a female student in the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Science, or the Faculty of Education (with a major in Science Education) who has completed a minimum of 60 credit hours of undergraduate courses. Preference will be given to a female student in the Faculty of Engineering. The award is valued at $1,500, and will be awarded by the Scholarship Committee on the basis of academic standing and financial need.
The 2023 recipient of this award was Karen Montaron.
